The Australian Government has recently announced that a total of 16,500 places have been allocated for the Subclass 190 Skilled Nominated Visa.
Alongside this announcement, the Australian Government has also released a detailed breakdown of visa allocations for each State and Territories for the 2024-2025 program year.
The following is a detailed breakdown of 190 visa allocations across all States and Territories:
State | 190 visa places |
Australian Capital Territory (ACT) – open | 1000 |
New South Wales (NSW) | 3000 |
Northern Territory (NT) – open | 800 |
South Australia (SA) | 3000 |
Queensland (QLD) | 600 |
Tasmania (TAS) – open | 2100 |
Victoria (VIC) | 3000 |
Western Australia (WA) – open | 3000 |
Besides ACT, NT, TAS and WA, which recently opened their state nomination programs, new Register of Interest (“ROI”) applications for other states for the 2024-2025 State Nominations will reopen in the following weeks, with specific requirements unique to each State & Territory to be announced in the near future.
Following that, there are a few KEY points to consider: –
Location: Various states & territories have re-evaluated their nomination quotas and labour shortages, leading to additional eligibility criteria for skilled migrants. This could impact the competitiveness of new State Nomination applications for the 190-visa program.
Occupation Lists: Each state will have its own occupation list to meet individual state demands and skill shortages. Certain occupations may be removed or added to the list. As such, it is best to stay updated with latest changes with each state, ensuring accurate migration planning.
Invitation Rounds: There is an increased in nomination allocations from the last program year for 2023-2024. However, due to additional criteria unique to each state, it may be more challenging to meet the minimum points requirement.
Strategic Nominations: States and territories are likely to focus their nominations on occupations that align closely with their economic priorities. Applicants with skills and experience in these targeted areas might have a higher chance of receiving nominations.
What this means for YOU !
Early Planning: If you are considering applying for permanent residency or migration to Australia, it is crucial to plan ahead and stay informed about the specific nomination allocations and changes in your desired state or territory.
