Latest News for Skilled Australian Permanent Residency (ENS 186 TRT)

NEW UPDATE

On 5 May 2023, the Department of Home Affairs announced an expanded pathway to Australian permanent residency through the subclass 186 Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visa program, specifically the Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) stream.

Starting from the end of 2023, the eligibility requirements under the TRT stream for 186 ENS will be expanded to include all 482 Temporary Skilled Shortage (TSS) visa holders. In other words, this means that TSS visa holders from both the short-term and medium-term occupations will be eligible to be sponsored by their employers for permanent residency.

Furthermore, TSS visa holders will only require 2 years of relevant full-time work experience to be eligible for 186 ENS. This requirement has been amended from the previous requirement of 3 years of full-time work experience.

Additionally, the limit on the number of onshore TSS visa applications under the short-term stream has been removed in the interim.
